the person

A unique background has enabled me to understand the flow of business through an organization. Having been raised in a family business, I had the opportunity to view work in a number of departments. Later in life it would be the foundation for my views of how all the pieces of a company work together as a unit.

After going to school for English and Fine Arts, I left not sure what I wanted to do. I spent time running a coffee shop and a rock climbing gym. During this period I began to teach myself computers. Using my pitance of pay I took a number of certification tests in computers. This lead me to my first role in a small business.

From here I worked for larger and larger companies and, with my diverse background, my roles became more and more interesting. I ran a Call Center, Managed Sales Teams, Acted as a CEO’s advocate, Presented to Boards, Pitched PPMs to VC’s, Designed products as a PM, Wrote technical manuls, designed sales campaigns and strategies, designed marketing campaigns, started grass roots advertising movements.

These are a smattering of the roles I fullfilled. I was the embodiment of the adage “Give a busy person something more to do and they’ll be the ones to get it done”. At first I believed that my background was all over the place. I had a successful career working for large organizations, but wasn’t sure what it meant when I put it all together.

This seemingly diversified background was the next steps from what I learned in growing up in a business. This solidified my understanding and took years to accomplish. Oddly enough it wasn’t until after I was doing branding work that I realized I always carried with me this understanding of a company. It gave a simple word to what I had been doing for years.
